Herbal antibiotics are derived from the whole plant, complete with the plants bioactive spectrum of alkaloids, enzymes and minerals. Herbal antibiotics, in contrast to prescription antibiotics, are not derived from micro-organisms in moulds or fungi. Unwanted side effects of prescription antibiotics include the overgrowth of fungi in the bowel and the destruction of "good gut" bacteria.
